Long abstract	Rhoda Kadalie passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 16, 2022, with her sister, Judy, by her side, and her daughter, Julia, nearby. The day before, on Good Friday, during a visit by a pastor from the local hospice, the nurses overseeing Rhoda’s care had alerted Julia and the family that Rhoda’s oxygen levels had dropped and her breathing had slowed. She had not spoken for three days; it seemed she might be about to pass away.
