Jerome Whitington is a clinical assistant professor at New York University, where he teaches anthropology and environmental studies. His book Anthropogenic Rivers: The Production of Uncertainty in Lao Hydropower (Cornell University Press, 2019) offered a new materialist reading of late industrial ecologies in Laos. He has also published on climate change and related issues in journals such as Public Culture, American Anthropologist, and Environmental Humanities. He is currently working on a book manuscript titled Experimental Earth: A Speculative Anthropology of Climate Change.
