Ilse Eigelaar-Meets holds qualifications in Sociology, including a PhD in Sociology of Development from Stellenbosch University, received in 2018. She also received a Master of Philosophy degree (MPhil) in Social Research Methods from Stellenbosch University in 2001 and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Hons in Sociology from Stellenbosch University in 1999. Throughout hercareer, Ilse has worked as a researcher and project manager in various institutions, including National and Provincial governments, such as the National Advisory Council for Innovation in 2001, the Department of Social Development Western Cape Provincial Government from 2002 to 2003, the University of Stellenbosch from 2004 to 2006 and as the deputy director for research at the Department of Local Government and Housing of the Western Cape Provincial Government from 2007 to 2009. From 2010 to 2021, she headed Soreaso, a social research consultancy, while teaching part-time at various tertiary institutions in South Africa. In 2022, she joined the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Stellenbosch University on a full-time basis as a lecturer.
