Martin de Wit is ’n professor in die Skool vir Publieke Leierskap (SPL) aandie Universiteit Stellenbosch, Suid-Afrika. De Wit het in 2001 ’n doktorsgraad in Handel (DCom) in Ekonomie aan die Universiteit van Pretoria, Suid-Afrika sowel as ’n meestersgraad in die Kunste in Teologiese Studies (MATS) aan Regent College, Vancouver, Kanada in 2016 verwerf. De Wit se navorsing is gefokus op die bybelse eksegese en teologie van skeppingsorg. Verder fokus sy navorsing op ekonomiese benaderings tot die velde van omgewingsbestuur en omgewingsbestuur wat onderwerpe soos omgewingseffekte van energie en materiële oorgange, klimaatekonomie en klimaatkommunikasie, afvalbestuur, die ekonomie van uitheemse indringerspesies, sowel as biodiversiteit en ekosisteemdienswaardasie insluit. De Wit is ’n direkteur by A Rocha South Africa, ’n Christelike geloofsgebaseerde organisasie (GBO) wat op omgewingsbewaring en-opvoeding gefokus is. De Wit doseer nagraadse kursusse in die omgewings-,ekologiese ekonomie asook die omgewingsregeerkundeveld,en hy het studieleiding aan 34 nagraadse studente gegee op die gebied van omgewingsbestuur en ekonomie. De Wit is ’n NNS-gegradeerde wetenskaplike met 75 eweknie-geëvalueerde publikasies en boekhoofstukke.

Martin de Wit is a professor at the School of Public Leadership (SPL) at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. De Wit holds a Doctor of Commerce (DCom) in Economics obtained from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2001 and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) obtained from Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, in 2016. De Wit’s research is focused on the biblical exegesis and theology of creation care. Furthermore, his research focuses on economic approaches to the fields of environmental management and environmental governance, which include topics such as environmental effects of energy and material transitions, climate economics and climate communication, waste management, the economics of invasive alien species as well as biodiversity and ecosystem service valuation. De Wit is a director at A Rocha South Africa, a Christian faith-based organisation (FBO) focused on environmental conservation and education. De Wit teaches postgraduate courses in the fields of environmental and ecological economics and environmental governance. He also supervised 34 postgraduate students in the fields of environmental management and economics. De Wit is an NRF-rated scientist with 75 peer reviewed publications and book chapters.
