| Long abstract | This chapter reviews 4 women writers, 1776-1848, from Switzerland, writing either in French or in German, though with ties to a variety of other countries, notably the Netherlands and France. Writers here range form the wife of the French prime minister to a governess who went insane, and their genre choices also vary, from memoir to novel to theatre to lyric poetry. |
