Paul Joosse is Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Hong Kong. He works at the intersection of sociological and criminological theory. Recent articles of his include “Countering Trump: Toward a Theory of Charismatic Counter-roles” (2018) which received the International Sociological Association's Junior Theorist Award; “Max Weber’s Disciples: Theorizing the Charismatic Aristocracy” (2017) which won the ASA Culture Section's Clifford Geertz Prize; and “Expanding Moral Panic Theory to Include the Agency of Charismatic Entrepreneurs” (2018) which won the Society for the Study of Social Problems Outstanding Theory Article Award.
