Long abstract

Satellite remote sensing techniques and the products derived from them are relevant for virtually all research fields in biophysical and socio-environmental research. Yet, multiple socio-technical choices have to be made in order to produce them. This chapter offers an instructive introduction to and critical overview of these choices.
