Long abstract | Adrian, a social climber from a working-class family, does his best to present himself as a member of high society. The aunt of one of his well-off friends takes him under her wing and invites him to accompany her on a holiday to the Alps. There Adrian gets carried away by high spirits and causes trouble by first introducing a baby dressed up as a pig into one of the entertainments that had been organised for the guests and then by swapping all the room numbers on the doors in their hotel. The story ends with the aunt desperately contacting her nephew so that he can help her contact Adrian’s mother and have him brought home. |
