Janina Priebe holds a Ph. D. in History of Science and Ideas. She is a researcher in environmental history at Umeå University, Sweden. Her work centres on visions of natural resource development in the twentieth century in the northern hemisphere, and cultural and historical perspectives on natural resources. She works within interdisciplinary research projects on forestry and climate action, and energy transformation in northern rural areas. She is currently the Arctic Five Chair in Environmental History at Umeå University (2022–2024), and the assistant programme leader for Future Forests, an interdisciplinary forest research and communication platform between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå University, and the Forestry Research Institute of Sweden.
