| Long abstract | By 1982, the grip of ‘pure’ oralism is broken and more schools for the deaf are using sign language in the classroom. We see the emergence of deaf teachers being trained to teach in schools for the deaf again in over 50 years. More and more people are attending sign language classes and parents of deaf children are being encouraged to learn sign language in order to communicate more effectively with their children. |
