What is the difference between Thoth Free and Thoth Plus?

**Thoth Free** provides self-service access to the core functionalities of Thoth, including full metadata management and import/export functionalities via the user interface and open APIs.

**Thoth Plus** offers added-value services such as automated distribution of publisher metadata to various platforms, bespoke publisher-facing services such as the creation of rich metadata records on behalf of a publisher, and more comprehensive support. 
With our Thoth Plus services, publishers don't have to worry about the manifold intricacies of metadata creation & dissemination any more. This enables you, the publisher, to spend more time on what you love and cherish - the publishing of OA books.

Are there additional fees associated with certain platforms?

Accepted Answer

Yes, platforms marked with an asterisk (*) may incur additional per-platform fees not covered by Thoth Plus Package fees. Publishers remain responsible to ensure that agreements with those platforms are in place, and that additional platform-specific fees charged by the platforms in question are directly being covered by the publishers.

Why are Thoth Plus prices discounted?

Thanks to the [Open Book Futures project](https://doi.org/10.21428/785a6451.39b2b1ea) funding provided by Research England and Arcadia, we are glad to be able to offer a 50% discount on all fees through to April 2026 for any publisher signing up before December 31, 2024.

Is submission to platforms guaranteed with Thoth Plus?

Accepted Answer

Submission to platforms is contingent upon specific platform criteria and agreements between the Thoth user and the respective platform. Thoth aims to achieve seamless integration with all platforms as it develops.
